Jeffrey Walker
Jeffrey Walker is a 2015 international affairs alumnus from Wilmore, Kentucky. He credits his time in the program to shifting his life’s direction.
“In and out of the classroom, and in and out of the country, I had experiences that gave me space to develop interests in public policy and community nutrition. WKU’s academic quality, combined with the chance to be involved in service work, campus ministry, and student athletics, laid the foundation for my career building healthier communities.”
Jeffrey says that studying international affairs at WKU was rewarding because of the professors, who taught him how policymaking processes work in many contexts. His time in the program also enabled him to leave his comfort zone while pursuing research opportunities.
“Classes in the major let students explore their interests in the field, and I was guided in learning how international politics influence nutrition in various countries and communities.”
Today, Jeffrey works as a Community Wellness Coordinator in Indiana. He partners with community members, local institutions, and decision-makers to complete projects and change local policies to make his community healthier.
