New Course Prefix for International Affairs (IA)
- Wednesday, March 26th, 2025
The Department has introduced a new prefix for International Affairs courses. Most political science courses with an international focus (e.g., International Politics, Comparative Politics, Government and Politics of Western Europe) will now use the IA prefix instead of PS. This change should have minimal impact on students. If you have questions or concerns, feel free to contact your Advisor or the Department Chair at scott.lasley@wku.edu. We will address any issues that arise, though it may take time to ensure everything runs smoothly in DegreeWorks.
A benefit of this change is that starting Fall 2025, IA and PS courses can both count toward Colonnade Connections requirements. The new prefix also better reflects the course content for the major(s).
The following Fall 2025 courses are affected:
- IA 250 International Politics
- IA 260 Introduction to Comparative Politics
- IA 350 Political Terrorism
- IA 355 International Law
- IA 497 Senior Seminar
- PS 366 – Government and Politics of East Asia is still listed under the PS prefix, but we plan to switch it to IA before Fall. No action is required on your part.
