Political Science Student, Barrett Greenwell, presented his thesis research at the Pi Sigma Alpha Conference. When asked about his experience he said, “I really enjoyed my trip to Washington DC when I had the opportunity to present my thesis research with Pi Sigma Alpha and to visit Georgetown Law School. At the conference, I presented research on my thesis “Do Ask, Do Tell: The Exclusion of Gay Men from Universal Male Conscription in the Republic of Turkey.” This timed presentation allowed me to decide what factors are most important to emphasize from my thesis. Furthermore, the chance to practice my presentation skills and to answer tough questions prepared me to present this weekend at Reach Week and to defend my thesis later this month. I also received valuable feedback from a graduate student who helped me to further improve my work. I met many amazing students who focused on a variety of topics related to both political science and international affairs. This opportunity to network with students from all different backgrounds and research focus areas was another great aspect of the conference. I definitely recommend that the department continue to send students to this conference in the future.”
