WKU Mock Trial Team Places 6th at Indy Mock-Hundred

The WKU Mock Trial team won 6th place at the Second Annual Indy Mock-Hundred hosted by Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) on November 9-10, 2019. The Indy Mock-Hundred was the team’s first tournament of the season. The WKU team went 5-3 at the tournament, including wins against Trinity Christian College and Eastern Michigan University B, a split with Purdue University, and a loss to Eastern Michigan A.
Team Captain Asha McWilliams said afterwards, “I’m proud of the team, we worked really hard throughout the semester and that work is starting to pay off. This is still an early tournament, so I’m looking forward to what the team can accomplish in the future.”
Additionally, Asha McWilliams, a senior majoring in Political Science and Economics from Lexington, KY, and Jacob McAndrews, a senior majoring in Political Science and Economics from Villa Hills, KY, won Outstanding Attorney awards. Other members of the team that participated this past weekend include Josh Zaczek, Taylor Cuthbertson, Sydney Jones, and Rachel Buchanan. The team is coached by attorney Kayla Fugate.
Next up is the Colonel Classic hosted by Eastern Kentucky University in Lexington, Ky on November 23rd and 24th. WKU will be sending two teams to compete against some of the premier mock trial programs in the country.
