First-time Freshmen Requirements
- Have at least a 2.00 unweighted high school GPA.
- Students with a 2.50 unweighted high school GPA or greater are not required to submit ACT or SAT scores for admission purposes but are highly encouraged to do so for academic placement.
- Students with a 2.00 - 2.49 unweighted high school GPA must submit ACT or SAT scores for admission purposes as well as achieve a Composite Admission Index (CAI) score of at least 60.

WKU Admissions Timeline
The application for admission to WKU can be found at wku.edu/apply. The admissions application does not require letters or recommendation nor essays and can most often times be completed in one sitting. Be sure to finish your application by December 31st to meet the academic scholarship priority deadline.
Application Fee Waiver
Fee waivers can be accepted a variety of ways depending on the eligible program you participate in. You must be currently participating in the program for fee waiver eligibility.
- Free and Reduced Lunch
- ACT or SAT waivers
- TRiO, Upward Bound, Educational Talent Search, or Educational Opportunities
- Medicaid or SNAP
- Supplemental Security Income
- KIIS and CCSA
After submitting your application, you must also submit some required documents. An official high school transcript is required for admission, and if you have taken the ACT or SAT, you will want to send those scores to us as well. You're not just choosing a college, you're choosing a home, and the best way to know you're making the right decision is to get on campus! We encourage you to schedule an official campus tour and plan to attend upcoming campus events.
The housing application is required for all incoming students planning to live on campus. This application will not only beused to assign you to a residence hall, but also to your roommate. The housing application opens each year in the late fall. For more information about residence halls, the housing application, or overall housing requirements check out the Housing and Residence Life website.
WKU is proud to offer a variety of scholarships to our students, and an easy way to apply for them. The The TOPDollar Scholarship Source is a one-stop scholarship application portal for all WKU students. The priority deadline for the TOPDollar Application is February 1. Additionally, all students should complete a FAFSA at fafsa.gov.
The Topper Orientation Progam (TOP) is a mandatory orientation program for all incoming students. At TOP you'll have the opportunity to connect with currents students, meet with various campus representatives, receive your official WKU ID card, and schedule your first semester of classes. TOP registration opens on February 1, so reserve your TOP date as soon as it opens.
Experience the Hilltopper spirit one week early at M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan.. M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan is WKU's transition program for all new undergraduate students and is designed to help you smoothly transition to your new life as a Hilltopper. Registration for M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan opens in the spring, so be sure to sign-up!
