The Living History at Your Library series presents Daniel Boone: The First
Kentuckian, Thursday, June 23, 6 PM.
Daniel Boone (1734-1820), portrayed by Kevin Hardesty , tells the story of the daring explorer who paved the way through the rugged Kentucky terrain through courage, a love of the pristine beauty, and a raw talent navigating the land and its native peoples.
Boone, born November 2, 1734, in Pennsylvania, showed a particular prefer-ence for the outdoors at a very young age and quickly established himself as an
adventurer and hunter. In fact, his first exposure to Kentucky was through a hunting trip with his brother in 1767. Both the beauty and danger of the land captivated Boone and made a lasting impression that is evident in his time spent and journey in Kentucky.
The event is part of the ongoing Living History at Your Library series and is
sponsored by the Kentucky Humanities Council, an independent, non-profit corporation affiliated with the National Endowment for the Humanities. Future installments will feature, among others, Colonel Harland Sanders and George Rogers Clark. For more information about this event, contact the Library at (502) 624-1232.
