WKU Partners with Ft. Knox U.S. Army Recruiting and Retention College (USAREC)

Western Kentucky University recently participated in a Continuing Education Degree Program (CEDP) Signing Ceremony with the U.S. Army Recruiting and Retention College (USAREC) at Ft. Knox. The ceremony including various institutions of higher education throughout Kentucky, signifying a partnership with USAREC to provide college courses and degree programs for enlisted and commissioned personnel attending the Recruiting and Retention College (RRC).
Through this partnership, WKU will offer an undergraduate certificate in Organizational Leadership, a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership and a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership. All will be offered online, allowing students the flexibility to pursue their individual educational goals while performing their military duties.
WKU is nationally-ranked for offering outstanding online degree programs and for being a military-friendly university.
WKU Provost Dr. David Lee was in attendance to sign on behalf of the University.
“It’s an honor to work with the outstanding military students and leadership involved in this partnership,” stated Lee.
“Our military men and women provide an immeasurable service, and we are proud to offer opportunities to support their educational goals and encourage innovative, creative thinking through challenging courses and degree programs,” he added.
Ft. Knox Recruiting and Retention College Commander Col. Carter Price spoke at the signing, stating that this partnership supports the entire service of the Army, including the National Guard and Reserve, preparing competent and committed leaders.
“It supports growth and leadership development . . . preparing agile, adaptive and innovative military professionals through increased academic rigor,” said Price.
“Most importantly, it enhances the ability of military professionals to integrate their military and civilian education, receiving valid academic credit for their educational investment.”
As Associate Professor of Organizational Leadership with the WKU School of Professional Studies, Dr. John Baker has worked with military students for many years. He said the staff and faculty are honored to offer these educational opportunities to the the men and women of the military.
“We welcome this opportunity to provide additional educational support to such a deserving group of men and women who selflessly serve our country every day,” he stated.
