WKU to Confer Degrees to 1,401 During Fall 2017 Commencement on Dec. 9

WKU will confer degrees and certificates to 1,401 graduates during its Fall 2017 Commencement on Dec. 9 at Diddle Arena.
In morning and afternoon ceremonies of its 182ndCommencement, WKU will award 85 associate, 1,001 bachelor’s, 243 master’s, one specialist and 11 doctoral degrees and 29 undergraduate certificates and 31 graduate certificates.
The 9:30 a.m. ceremony will include graduate and undergraduate degree candidates in the Gordon Ford College of Business, College of Health and Human Services and University College.
The 2 p.m. ceremony will include graduate and undergraduate degree candidates in the Potter College of Arts & Letters, College of Education and Behavioral Sciences and Ogden College of Science and Engineering.
At the morning ceremony, Kelly Burgess, a Hospitality Management and Dietetics major from Franklin, Tennessee, will be recognized as the Ogden Foundation Scholar. The award, WKU’s top academic honor, is presented to one graduating baccalaureate degree senior who has demonstrated exceptional academic achievement and outstanding university and civic engagement.
Eleven graduates of WKU’s Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership will be recognized at the afternoon ceremony.
The ceremonies will include the parade of U.S. and international flags, recognition of honor graduates and the commissioning of seven Army ROTC cadets as second lieutenants. Each graduate also will be given a Class of 2017 WKU red towel to wave at the end of the ceremony.
