WKU Begins Online Faith Community Nursing Course in August
Licensed Registered Nurses can now enroll in a self-paced 100% online faith community nursing (FCN) course available through a collaboration of WKU Department of Nursing & WKU Continuing & Professional Development.
FCN is a specialized practice of professional nursing. It is a holistic health approach which focuses on the intentional care of the spirit for preventing or minimizing illness.
Through discussion, personal sharing, case studies, lecture, audiovisuals, and group work, this course is designed to help students meet the following objectives:
- Embrace the integration of faith and health as central to the faith community nurse role
- Demonstrate knowledge, attitude, and skills to practice as a beginning faith community nurse
- Value an intercollegiate peer system of support and identify a network for continued support
- Commit to continued spiritual formation to more effectively understand & carry out the faith community nurse role
This course implements the 2020 International Parish Nurse Resource Center’s core curriculum and is offered through curriculum based on 2019 IPNRC Foundations of Faith Community Nursing. Students fulfill 40 contact hours (4.0 CEUs) for full participation in the course.
Registration is going on now. The course takes place August 17-October 9, 2020. Course fees are $400.
