Bowling Green, Kentucky – WKU will now offer six non-credit career training programs for adult learners interested in beginning a career in the healthcare field, following the addition of a new program: Home Healthcare Aide.
The Occupational Outlook Handbook projects a 34% increase in home healthcare aide job opportunities, and this training can help prepare professionals to fill a growing need throughout the community.
In addition to Home Healthcare Aide, five healthcare training programs are also offered, including Clinical Medical Assistant Program, Phlebotomy Technician, Pharmacy Technician, Medical Billing & Coding, and Medical Administrative Assistant.
All programs prepare students to take industry-recognized certification exams that are nationally recognized. Individuals who qualify may be able to receive WIOA funding that is administered through the Kentucky Career Center offices.
Online courses are self-paced and receive lab credit through previous experience or by completing an externship after all coursework is completed. Hybrid courses are also planned once in-person instruction is safely possible. All courses will follow current health guidelines to ensure the health and safety of everyone.
Registration is open now, and students can begin courses when they are ready and complete at their own pace. For more information, visit the WKU Lifelong Learning Healthcare Career Training page or contact LL@wku.edu.
