Scholarly Interest

Kirolos Haleem is an assistant professor of civil (transportation) engineering at Western Kentucky University (WKU). Before joining WKU, Kirolos worked as a faculty member for two and a half years at The University of Alabama in Huntsville. Kirolos received his master’s and Ph.D. degrees in civil (transportation) engineering from the University of Central Florida (UCF) in 2007 and 2009, respectively. He has more than 10-year experience in transportation engineering. His areas of expertise include traffic safety analysis, application of statistical models and data mining techniques in transportation data analysis, traffic operations, and ITS. He worked for more than four years as a research associate at Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, FL. At FIU, he led and conducted numerous transportation research projects sponsored by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and the USDOT, and supervised Ph.D. and M.S. students. Kirolos also brings industrial experience working at AgileAssets, Inc. and the West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT).
