Bachelor of Science in Accounting

Students pursuing a major in Accounting should be aware of the following requirements for admission to the Accounting Program:

  • Courses completed prior to entering Western will be accepted for transfer credit as part of the accounting program only if the grade of "C" or better was earned with the exception ACCT 200 and ACCT 201. A grade of "B" or higher in both ACCT 200 and ACCT 201 is required.
  • Students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 and must have completed ACCT 200 and ACCT 201 with a grade of "B" or higher in both ACCT 200 and ACCT 201.
  • Except for ACCT 300 and ACCT 310, students must be admitted to the Accounting Program to enroll in upper level accounting courses.
  • Accounting majors must earn a grade of "C" or better in ACCT 300, 301, 310, and 312 and other courses that are prerequisites for succeeding courses.

Courses needed to complete the Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting (beyond admission requirements and core courses) include:

  • ACCT 300 - Intermediate Accounting I
  • ACCT 301 - Intermediate Accounting II
  • ACCT 303 - Intermediate Financial Accounting III
  • ACCT 310 - Managerial Cost Accounting
  • ACCT 312 - Accounting Information Systems
  • ACCT 430 - Federal Taxation- Individuals
  • ACCT 450 - Auditing Assurance Services
  • ACCT 499 - Senior Assessment-ACCT
  • ACCT 401 - Bus Combination Related TPCS
    ACCT 420 - Govt Non Profit ACCT
    ACCT 431 - Federal Taxation- Business Entities
  • ACCT or BUSINESS ELECTIVE*
  • ACCT or BUSINESS ELECTIVE*

*Accounting or business electives may be chosen from COMM 345, ENG 306, All upper-division courses offered in the Gordon Ford College of Business except FIN 333, BA 490, CIS 369, ECON 490, ENT 490, FIN 449, MGT 490 and MKT 490.
