At 7 p.m. November 7, WKU’s Hardin Planetarium will host a free, public discussion on the basics of astrophotography and night sky photography, featuring Carlos Rotellar. Astrophotography from Your Driveway will include telescopes with which you can interact and learn. The event will end by 8:30 p.m. Rotellar will explain how accessible this kind of photography can be, as he does most of his work from his driveway. He is donating three of his images for the planetarium’s museum.
Using cameras at night to see stars can prove difficult, and combining the camera with a telescope can be especially confusing. Rotellar taught himself, and his advice can open new opportunities for anyone interested.
Along with special events, Hardin Planetarium offers free presentations every Tuesday and Thursday at 7 p.m. and on Sundays at 2 p.m. The current show is When the Universe Was Young. A schedule of shows is available on the planetarium's website at https://www.wku.edu/hardinplanetarium/public-shows.php.
