Summer Hall Transition to Fall Assignments

Description:

The summer-to-fall housing assignment transition begins Tuesday, August 6th at 4 PM. 

Move out from summer hall must be complete and keys returned to the Minton Hall front desk by 10AM on August 7th.

All summer housing bills must be paid in full prior to moving to your fall housing assignment.

Packing supplies (small boxes and packing tape) are available in Minton Hall lobby; first come first served.

How to Complete Your Room Checkout 

 

STEP ONE

If you are living on campus this fall, go to the front desk of your fall residence hall at 4 PM on  August 6th to pick up your room key.

If you are no longer living on campus, please complete Steps 2 and 3 by 10 AM on August 7th.

Begin moving your belongings.

 

STEP TWO

Prepare your room for checkout:

  1. Unplug and defrost your fridge. Make sure you have plenty of time to do so, and use a towel to collect any excess water that drains.

  2. Remove all trash from your room.
    • Take large items to the designated dumpster near your hall.
    • Do not leave trash in the building.
    • Clean out the trash can.

  3. Remove ALL personal belongings from your room. 

  4. Return the furniture to the original arrangement of left and right sides.

  5. Sweep the room. Brooms are available for checkout at the front desk.  An excessively dirty room may result in a cleaning charge.

  6. Close and lock windows.

  7. Set the thermostat to 70 degrees and the fan to auto.

  8. Turn off the lights.

  9. Lock your door.

STEP THREE

  • Go to the Minton Hall front desk and request an express checkout envelope.

  • Complete the express checkout envelope with your full name, WKU ID number, and side of the room, and room number.

  • Read and sign the envelope. 

  • Seal your room key inside the envelope. You must turn in your key to the Minton Hall front desk at the time of checkout to avoid an additional charge. 

  • Give the completed express checkout envelope to the front desk assistant. 

Failure to complete these steps is considered an unofficial checkout, which will result in an unofficial checkout charge of $150.
