Dr. D'Lee Babb, Associate Professor of Child & Family Services


 Hello!  

 

My name is Dr. D’Lee Babb. I’ve had the honor of teaching at WKU since August 2012 in Applied Human Sciences. I am the Program Coordinator for the Child and Family Services, B.S. degree, teach classes in Child and Family Services, and lead the Early Childhood Education Director Certificate. I am also responsible for our accreditation with the National Association for the Education of Young Children. 

 

In Spring of 2023 I am leading a study abroad group from WKU to Italy to study Reggio Emilia and Montessori methods and schools. Please let me know if you are interested in joining us! 

 

I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Family Relations from Oklahoma Baptist University, Master of Science in Child Development where I researched father involvement with their children. I obtained my Ph.D. in Human Sciences with a concentration in Child Development from Oklahoma State University in 2010. My dissertation topic was Pre-Kindergarten Classroom Practices in Oklahoma Public Schools: Influence of Teacher and Principal Beliefs and Characteristics.

My current research interests include working with third culture children in acculturation in public preschools, developmentally appropriate practices in public preschools, and teacher education. 
I serve the Child and Family Services unit as unit leader and work with our accrediting agency, the National Association for the Education of Young Children. I am heavily involved with the National Association for the Education of Young Children Higher Education Accreditation system where I lead peer review teams and am the Vice President of Collaborations for ACCESS: Associate Degree Early childhood Teacher Educators.
