David P. Hall Memorial Scholarship Fund


David Presnell Hall, 77, beloved husband of Janice Moxely Hall of Bowling Green, KY, peacefully passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at The Medical Center of Bowling Green. Born February 17, 1943, he was the youngest son of the late Marcia Presnell and Monroe Hall, proud nephew of the late Emma Bell “Deedy” and Curry Hall, and brother of the late Curry Whitsett Hall of Auburn, KY. David was a graduate of Auburn High School and alumni of Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. He was a member of the Barron fraternity at WKU.  He served as a First Lieutenant in the Army National Guard of Kentucky.  For over thirty years, David owned, managed, and farmed Cedar Oaks Farms in Auburn. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Russellville, KY and a strong supporter of South Union Shaker Village in South Union, KY.

 

Lovingly remembered by daughters Evelyn Dee Powell (Hall), and her husband, Shannon, of Franklin TN, Dr. Elizabeth Dawn Hall, and her husband Jason Heflin of Bowling Green, KY, step-daughters, Lisa Hendricks (Frye), and her husband, David, of Bowling Green, KY,  Kim Giddish and her husband, Gregg, of Nashville, TN and step-son, Jimmie McKindsey and his wife Jennifer, of Dallas TX. He will also be greatly missed by his big brother, James Monroe “Mon” Hall III, and his wife Judy, of Avon, IN. 

 

David was a devoted grandfather to Michael David (20), Jonah (18), and Emma Powell (14); Lucian Hall-Heflin (5); Nikki (Mike Skees) and Holli Frye; James McKindsey (7) and great-grandfather to Keelan Luke (12), Kalli Skees (8), and Phoenix Frye (5). He leaves behind 16 beloved nieces and nephews.  

David was an avid outdoorsman; he loved to hunt, fish and golf. Always curious and open to learning, he took up aviation late in life. Like his mother, Marcia Hall, David was a loyal fan of UK basketball. An endless problem solver, David enjoyed trouble shooting and engineering any mechanical issue. He and Janice cultivated close friendships for over twenty-three years at the Royal Oaks community in Dundee, FL. His laughter and humor was infectious and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who were blessed to know him.

To honor his memory, friends and family established the David P. Hall Memorial Scholarship Fund. The fund assists deserving WKU students obtain a higher education. Through this fund, David's legacy lives on in perpetuity.
