The Edward Lee Tudor, BSN Scholarship Fund

Lee Tudor was a young man who loved his family, friends and had a special heart for children and the elderly. Lee was diagnosed, June 2001, with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and during his week in the Pediatric ward of the hospital, he saw what cancer does to children. He told his mom, Mary, during that experience that he wanted to be a Pediatric Nurse.

After his cancer treatments were over Lee moved to Florida and fell in love with the world of motorcycles! This world sidetracked him from pursuing his dream of becoming a Nurse for a time. Dreams do not hibernate long and in April 2015, Lee chose to wake his dream up and begin pursuing his Nursing degree. Lee pursued his dream and was on the Dean’s List three semesters graduating with his RN degree September of 2017. Not wasting any time, Lee enrolled to complete his Bachelors of Science in Nursing in January 2018. Lee’s desire was to serve children as a Pediatric Oncology Nurse at All Children’s Hospital.

Lee’s life affected numerous people who saw his love for others and his heart for helping anyone! Lee’s friends spoke of him saying, “The best place for your motorcycle to break down was close to Lee’s house because he would always stop whatever he was doing and fix it for you?” His mother Mary shared this story, “One of Lee's teachers told me that when they had clinic days they all knew they would be late getting home. They would always have to go look for Lee when the shift was over. They would find him sitting with an elderly patient listening to his/her life story. Lee said, "The best history lesson you can get is from our elders. Just listen to their life story." This scholarship was created in the memory of this special man to honor a life well lived, albeit cut short. Recipients of this scholarship by completing their degrees will honor a dream that Lee was not able to complete.
