Kelli Bush Aspiring Educator Scholarship Fund
Kelli Bush born July 16, 1970, in Lebanon Junction and a resident of Elizabethtown,
died Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown.
A graduate of Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, Associate of Science,
and Western Kentucky University, Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Elementary
Education, she began her teaching career at Boston Elementary School, 1993-99. She
then moved to the Elizabethtown Independent School system, where she taught at Morningside
Elementary 1999-2007, and served as principal 2007-12. She transitioned into district
administration in the Elizabethtown school system as assistant superintendent for
student learning, 2012-20, and then as superintendent from 2020-23. Her most recent
role was as a grant co-director with Green River Region Educational Cooperative.
While Kelli received honors for her many achievements throughout her career, she was
most proud of helping others reach their fullest potential. She was a servant leader
who inspired others by her example and encouragement. She dedicated her life to making
everything she touched the best it could be. She was tireless in her efforts and fierce
in her dedication.
Kelli was at her happiest listening to music with her husband Matt, reading, watching
the NFL, cheering on the Cards, at the lake with family and friends, wagering on Twin
Spires, planning and being on a cruise or chilling on the back porch simply reflecting
- with a strong coffee - on her upcoming day. But most of all, her ultimate bliss
came from seeing her children, Austin and Meredith happy. Kelli was simply the best
role model her kids could ever have.
To honor her memory, family, friends and colleagues established the Kelli Bush Aspiring Educator Scholarship Fund. The fund assists deserving students majoring in teacher education to obtain a higher education. Through this fund, Kelli's legacy lives on.
