Funding & Student Support
Financial Support
WKU Chinese Flagship is a federally funded program that provides scholarship opportunities for our students' domestic and abroad summer study programs and Capstone year abroad. While this funding is not guaranteed, the typical student in our program does receive substantial funding to offset costs for summer study abroad, domestic summer language study, and the overseas Capstone year.
Opportunities for Students Enrolled in Flagship:
Boren Scholarships:
Boren Scholarships are recommended for Flagship students applying to Flagship Capstone programs. These awards provide $25,000 to U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests. Many Flagship students successfully apply for Boren Scholarships. Boren Scholars commit to working in the federal government for at least one year after graduation.
