Hi, my name is Abby Yarbrough! I’m a junior studying Chinese and Creative Writing at the Mahurin Honors College, and I’m from Nashville, Tennessee. I am a student in the Chinese Flagship Program, which I would love to talk about with any interested prospective students! I am studying to be an interpreter/translator, and I love all things language-learning.
One piece of advice for incoming freshmen is to get involved! Whether it be through campus organizations and clubs, Greek life, campus ministries, or just going to events and talks related to your interests, college is so much easier when you have friends. Through doing this, you can also build helpful connections for your future. I would also strongly encourage you to take advantage of campus resources such as the Office of Scholar Development and their workshops. They really are here to help you, but you have to take the first step and ask for it!
I’m so excited to see you on the hill!
