Hi. My name is Walker Bell, and I am a junior at WKU from Louisville, KY. I am majoring in International Affairs and Chinese. Here at Western, aside from being an HonorsTopper, I am a student of the Chinese Flagship Program and am a member of the Honors Social Planning Board. I also serve in Dance Big Red in the Fundraising Committee. This previous winter term I had the opportunity to study abroad in the Czech Republic. I will study abroad to Taiwan this summer as well to continue improving my Chinese language proficiency.
I chose to be an HonorsTopper because of the great experiences I have had due to the MHC. In Chinese Flagship, the teachers and tutors are phenomenal at engaging you in the classroom. Additionally, from offering grants to its small class sizes, the MHC wants to see you succeed. Its welcoming environment and resources make it a community I am grateful to be a part of. I am excited to be able to share that with prospective students.
College is a space for self-discovery, and I am certain the MHC is an amazing place to find and be yourself. If you have any questions about Chinese Flagship, the MHC, Study Abroad, or WKU in general, feel free to reach out. Go Tops!!
The MHC is the main catalyst that led me to attend Western. Through its programs and organizations, I have ultimately been enabled to explore aspects of myself I never thought possible. HSPB events allowed me to recognize the community everyone can find here on the Hill, and thus I desire to share in the joy that I met with the environment HSPB members helped configure. The work of HSPB provided me a path to both explore other opportunities to meet new people while simultaneously sharing lasting memories with those I already knew. Therefore, HSPB helped me find home at college, and I hope to do the same for others joining or already a part of the WKU and MHC community.
