Biography
Sara Redmon Poynter, M.S., CCC-SLP graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders in 2012, Master of Science in Communication Disorders in 2013, Rank 1 in Communication Disorders in 2015 and a Director of Special Education Endorsement in 2024. She holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is licensed by the Kentucky Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
Sara has spent the past decade serving as a school-based speech-language pathologist across South Central Kentucky. Her experience encompasses a broad range of school districts, where she has worked with students from early childhood (three years old) through to young adults aged 21. Sara's expertise includes enhancing receptive and expressive language skills, articulation, fluency, and the implementation of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems.
In addition to her school-based practice, Sara served part-time as an instructor for Western Kentucky University's Pre-SLP program and has as also provided supervision at WKU's Communication Disorders Clinic.
Her clinical experience extends to skilled nursing facilities, where she continues to work with the treatment of aphasia, cognitive-communication disorders, and dysphagia.
