Have you ever wondered what some of the benefits are to studying mathematics at WKU? Are you unsure of what to do after graduation? A great resource for answers to these questions are the people who have been in your shoes before! In the Pi Mu Epsilon Math Alumni Speaker Series (PME MASS), WKU Mathematics alumni speak about their career paths and how studying mathematics at WKU has been beneficial to them. Each event ends with a Q&A session.

We are pleased to announce our next speaker for the semester, Ryan Flora (BS ’20), a Senior Associate of Data Enablement at Dentsu. Ryan will be speaking to us on Tuesday, October 22, at 4:00 PM in COHH 3119.

About our Speaker: Ryan graduated from WKU in 2020 with a BS in Mathematical Economics and then began a unique journey to get to where he is currently in his career. He first ventured into the golf industry, serving as an Assistant Golf Professional. This role not only deepened his appreciation for the sport, but also honed his interpersonal skills and attention to detail. After nearly two years, he transitioned back to his roots in data, taking on a role in business intelligence and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processing. Now, with over two years of experience in this dynamic field, he excels in transforming raw data into complex dashboards/tools, creating data pipelines for teams both internally and externally, and helping his organization make informed decisions. Currently working from home, he enjoys the flexibility and balance that remote work provides, allowing him to continue exploring his love for data while maintaining a connection to the community. Passionate about continuous learning, he is always seeking new ways to leverage data to drive success and innovation. Outside of work, Ryan enjoys spending time with his friends and family, hitting the golf course or basketball court, and staying active in his community.
