• Must be an Active, Full-time Facilities Management employee
• Monthly Awards: minimum ninety (90) days of service
• Annual Awards: minimum twelve (12) months of service
• No disciplinary actions on record within the past twelve (12) months
• No safety incidents within the past 12 months
• Monthly/Quarterly winners will also receive a nomination for the respective Annual Award

• Managers can nominate as many employees as they want each month or nominate a team of employees doing outstanding customer service
• Winners are recognized monthly
• Deadline to enter is the last day of the calendar month at 5:00 p.m.
• If a submission does not win one month, you can submit again the following month
• COO’s pick one winner per month for their region
• $100 per Winner or $150 for a Team
• Nominations can be made through a link on Sodexo Net

One Supervisor will be recognized each Quarter, then another outstanding supervisor will be recognized during the annual DFM Holiday brunch for exhibiting exceptional leadership abilities. These awards will go to a supervisor who exemplifies significant leadership skills such as the ability to successfully manage an efficient and effective team at the highest level; has promoted teamwork and collaboration across the department; has worked quietly behind the scenes to improve his or her areas of responsibility as a whole; and who has consistently done so with a positive attitude. 

Other actions of an exceptional leader may include:

• Effective Communication—delivers quality and timely communication, listens to understand, gives both positive & negative feedback, receives constructive criticism well and holds team members accountable
• Takes initiative to identify/solve problems before they become an issue
• Effectively motivates team members by providing timely, specific recognition
• Shows empathy and compassion to team members to assist work-life balance
• Supports Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging
• Empowers team members to seek creative solutions to improve the safety culture, increase efficiency, and provide exceptional customer service
• Demonstrated ability to effectively handle conflict management
• Leads team to plan/complete projects on time or ahead of schedule
• Holds an excellent record for retention of team members
• Promotes a positive safety culture by identifying hazards, communicating near misses and performing safety walks

Nominations for the Safety Hero of the Month/Year award should include specific examples of how the employee has demonstrated the following behaviors:

• Demonstrated commitment to health and safety in the workplace by focusing on proactive & preventative measures
• Puts forth the extra effort to identify risks in the workplace
• Regularly demonstrates a personal philosophy about safety and goes out of their way to encourage best safety practices to other members of the team
• Has played a significant role in preventing injuries and/or illnesses, unsafe conditions or practices
• Has volunteered for roles or participated in tasks that involve increasing or maintaining safety in the workplace
