Biography
Andrew J. A. Head, MAAE, CFP®, brings more than two decades worth of financial services experience to his position. Professor Head remains an actively practicing Financial Planner and is a Managing Partner of Journey Financial Management, LLC, a Registered Investment Advisor with clients in 10+ states. His experience includes work in retail banking, wirehouse brokerage and independent financial advisory firms, both in the US and abroad. Professor Head is the founding and current Director of the WKU Center for Financial Success, making countless numbers of presentations as well as providing oversight to the 9 student "coaches" and full-time Program Manager.
Professor Head served as Director of the WKU CFP® Board Registered Financial Planning Programs from 2011-2015, and is still active in program design and leadership on a daily basis.
He is the founding and current Faculty Advisor for the WKU Financial Planning Association™ (FPA®) Student Chapter and is the former Membership Chair on the Board of Directors for the FPA of Kentuckiana.
Professor Head also serves as the Faculty Advisor for the FPA Financial Planning Challenge student team, qualifying for the national finals in 4 of the last 6 years. He also represented the CFP® Board as a judge for the competition at the 2015 and 2016 FPA BE National Conferences in Boston, MA and Baltimore, MD, respectively.
Professor Head was selected to serve on the KY Dept. of Education's "Financial Literacy Standards Writing Committee," a group of about twelve educators who, in response to 2018's Kentucky HB132, were given the responsibility of writing the personal financial literacy learning-objectives for 2024 KY high school graduates and beyond.
The Gordon Ford College of business is a top business school with dual AACSB accreditation in both business and accounting programs.
