Brent Bjorkman, Director of KFP, travels to Washington D.C.

Over the past two years, Brent Bjorkman, Director of the Kentucky Folklife Program and the Kentucky Museum, has partnered with colleagues in the Kentucky Folklife Program and Kentucky Museum on several grants from National Endowment for the Humanities. Through this experience, Bjorkman has become involved with the advocacy group, the National Humanities Alliance. On Monday, March 12th, Bjorkman traveled to Washington D.C. for the Alliance's annual meeting and participated on a panel entitled "Changing Narratives About Humanities in Higher Education." As part of the panel, Bjorkman discussed his involved in the Bowling Green Bosnia Oral History Project and how oral history narratives have helped to build connections with Bowling Green's Bosnian-American community. He also shared how the resulting exhibit, A Culture Carried: Bosnians in Bowling Green, has been utilized as a teaching tool for a wide range of students and how the project continues to build relationships and opportunties for WKU faculty colleagues across campus.
