Folk Studies Faculty Member Tim Frandy Featured on "A Public Affair" Podcast

Assistant Professor of Folk Studies Tim Frandy sat down with Esty Dinur, host of "A Public Affair" (WORT), earlier this month to discuss the Sámi, the indigenous peoples of the Nordic countries. Over the course of the hour, they explored a wide range of topics, including Sámi history and lifeways, colonization and boarding schools, language, joik (traditional song), folk stories, and Indigenous activism and revitalization work. Tim Frandy is a member of the Sámi American community; he has been active in Indigenous cultural revitalization movements in North America and Scandinavia. He is the editor and translator of Inari Sámi Folklore: Stories from Aanaar.
