ACUE Faculty Training Course

The Burch Institute, the WKU Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning (CITL) and Academic Affairs partnered to bring ACUE’s Course in Effective Teaching Practices to WKU as a student success and retention initiative. This comprehensive 25-module courseaddresses all of the core competencies in the effective practices framework, taking nearly an entire academic year to complete. More than 30 faculty members representing all WKU colleges comprised the first cohort, which culminated its work before spring semester 2020. The cohort boasted a 97% completion rate, with each successful faculty member earning the nationally recognized certificate from ACUE.

Program Evaluation

The Burch Institute compiled a team of experts to conduct a thorough evaluation of the ACUE faculty training project and have been collaborating with program staff throughout the project.  In addition to the program-support staff from CITL, the evaluation team members are:

Dr. Daniel Super (Burch Institute)

Dr. Pam Petty (Burch Institute)

Dr. Doug McElroy (Biology)

Dr. Jeff Budziak (Political Science)

Dr. Tom Gross (Psychology)
