Alternative Spring Break

Join WKU Student Activities on an alternative spring break trip in 2025. WKU Student Activities will take students on one spring break trip to Washington D.C., which will include one day of community service along with visits to cultural sites in the nation's capital.

The second trip will take place in Memphis, TN. This trip will focus on community service with the non-profit, Living Lands and Waters. We will be working with college students from other universities to clean up waterways in Memphis. When we are not volunteering, we will visit other cultural sites in Memphis.

Visit the WKU Student Activities alternative breaks webpage for trip details and information on how to apply.

Community Farmers Market

Community Farmers Market is a year-round, producer-only farmers market located in Bowling Green, KY.
You can find us at 2319 Nashville Road, near the WKU South Campus & Knicely Conference Center.

CFM can always use volunteer help! On Saturdays and Tuesdays, volunteers help with:

  • processing transactions and disbursing tokens for our Double Dollars programs
  • setting up signs at the beginning of the market day and putting them up at the end
  • greeting customers and answering questions
  • and much more!

Volunteers also help organize special events, such as our annual Night Y'all market.  On average, our volunteers tend to help out one or two times per month at the market booth.

Sign-up or find more info here: Volunteer with CFM - COMMUNITY FARMERS MARKET (communityfarmersmarketbg.com)

KYRISE Mentor Program

The KYRISE Mentor Program is a pilot program for foster youth between the ages of 14 and 17. We are recruiting mentor volunteers to match with a foster youth to engage in connection for one hour per week for a period of 6 months with at least one connection a month being an in-person interaction. We will also be hosting quarterly events for the matches and hope to secure tickets to movies, games, and other events to help alleviate costs of in-person interactions.

Volunteers must be at least 21 years old and able to pass a background check. We do have an application form that can be accessed online here: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=8rznMdj6bEeKJE5fMzFc-64N5oVR-TFCo0CSTkv6XO9UQ1hVUEUxRkZRQ0NFNUs1VzJHRFRQOFlQMi4u

Sisters of Charity of Nazareth Volunteer Program

The SCN volunteer program offers transformative immersion opportunities that engage volunteers in meaningful service both domestically and abroad. We operate several immersion programs that take participants to various locations, including Belize, India, and Nepal, where they work to build homes and uplift communities. We also have stateside missions across Appalachia, New Orleans, Mississippi, and Ohio, focusing on home repairs and rebuilding efforts.

In addition to our immersion programs, we run a disaster relief initiative that mobilizes volunteers to respond to urgent needs in affected areas. Most recently, our team traveled to Mayfield, Kentucky, to assist communities impacted by the devastating tornadoes.

Food Distribution in partnership with Feeding America

Volunteers pack the day’s food distribution boxes with fresh produce, protein, and non-perishable items. Volunteers carry the food to cars to place in the trunk for contactless pickup. Volunteer hours are flexible. Please volunteer for the amount of time that meets your schedule.

Wednesday, December 18th at Lampkin Park (980 Morgantown Road, Bowling Green)  8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Please arrive at 7:30 am. (parking directions are below)

Lampkin Park:  the entrance is Us Army Reserve Headquarters. Follow the road and signage for the Jaycee Pavilion.  Continue past the pavilion (drive between the pavilion on the right and a blue building on the left) to go down the hill to the warehouse where the food will be sorted.  Note, the cars arriving for pick up will turn left next to the blue building.  If the cars are backed up at the entrance, another option is to take Veterans Memorial to Glen Lily Road to the back entrance to the SOKY Fairgrounds.
