Graduate from WKU | Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

For some planning for graduation begins before the first day of college. For others, planning for graduation is an ongoing critical thinking process in which students explore the varying avenues their college career may take them. Regarding of when students begin planning, Western Kentucky University joins each student in the commencement celebration process and provides opportunities to stay involved after graduation. The information on this page describes and directs you to the university's cultural-specific commencement activities and alumni groups. For more information on alumni involvement, visit the WKU Alumni Center

ISEC Graduation Celebration

The Intercultural Student Engagement Center Graduation Celebration has grown into an eagerly anticipated event by graduates, the University community, and their families. Each semester, this program recognizes students of color for their academic achievement and empowers them to continue successful ventures after graduate.

Lavender Ceremony

The Lavender ceremony is a time for recognition and inspiration; connection and accomplishment; and most of all a celebration of LGBTQ students of all races and ethnicities.

Society of African American Alumni

The Society of African American Alumni was formed with an interest in solidifying African Americans who attended WKU around the greatness of their experience at WKU.  Over the years, it has become a great venue for alumni to reconnect with that college experience and with the people with whom they shared the experience.

Topper PRIDE Alumni Chapter

The Topper PRIDE Alumni Chapter's primary goals include engaging LGBTQ alumni and allies in campus programs that support students, faculty, and staff by organizing fundraising events and activities in support of the WKU Pride Center or other LGBTQ programs, services or scholarships at WKU. These goals include providing comprehensive educational support as a resource for members within the LGBTQ community, allies, and members of the WKU Alumni Association.

Young Alumni Council

The Young Alumni Council (YAC) provides an opportunity for young alumni to maintain ties to WKU and provides important feedback to the Alumni Association on programming. The focus is to educate young alumni about the programs, services and mission of the WKU Alumni Association, as well as to advance and support the general welfare of WKU with programs and scholarships.
