The Office of Scholar Development (OSD) has awarded 13 WKU students a total of $19,894 in Lifetime Experience Grants in the 2013-14 academic year.

Five students received grants: Chad Coomer, Jon Hendrie, Wesley Bromm, Allison Feikes, and Angelika Masero. Two students were named alternates: Amy Correll and Clarice Esch.

Emily Potts will spend the summer studying in Ireland, thanks to a prestigious grant. She has received the Gaeltacht Summer Award from the Ireland-United States Commission for Educational Exchange.

Eight WKU students have been recognized by the U.S. Department of State through the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship program. Six WKU students received scholarships for international educational experiences this summer.

Two students at the Carol Martin Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky at WKU have been offered nationally competitive scholarships for language study abroad this summer through the National Security Language Initiative for Youth.

All four WKU students nominated for the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program have been honored by the premier award for undergraduates pursuing careers in science, mathematics or engineering.

Chad Coomer has received a U.S. Student Fulbright grant to the UK to complete his master’s degree in infection and immunity at University College London. He has also been accepted into the National Institutes of Health Oxford-Cambridge Scholars program.
