The Kentucky Folklife Program Archives is a rich repository of materials documenting the folklife of Kentucky's people. Recently transferred from the Kentucky Historical Society in Frankfort to WKU's Kentucky Building, the Archives is now part of the Building's Manuscripts & Folklife Archives unit. To celebrate this move and to showcase the collection's depth and diversity, the Kentucky Museum and Manuscripts & Folklife Archives have developed an exhibition featuring fifty representative photographs selected from the thousands of images housed in the collection. We are excited about adding this rich resource to our research collections.

For 29 years, high school students from throughout Kentucky and the region have
come to learn and do journalism at Western Kentucky University's Journalism Workshop.
These students have shown an interest in journalism and came to the workshops with
backgrounds under-represented in U.S. newsrooms. Some lacked the financial resources
to attend journalism workshops. The 2013 Xposure High School Journalism Workshop
hosted by the School of Journalism & Broadcasting at WKU will continue that tradition.
The alumni of these workshops fill newsrooms throughout the country, helping to ensure
that the news gatherers at media outlets mirror the diverse communities they serve.
