PCAL DCS Application Form
What is DCS?
The Dean’s Council of Students (DCS) is the Potter College of Arts & Letters’ ambassadorial
group. DCS is comprised of 20-30 competitively selected student volunteers who serve
throughout the academic year. DCS membership represents all facets of Potter College
and actively embraces members with different experiences and perspectives.
What is the role of DCS?
DCS members assist Potter College departments and faculty members at open houses and/or
college fairs. Additionally, DCS members correspond with prospective PCAL students,
organize and participate in Potter College events like Fall Festival, work college-wide
events like Cultural Enhancement Series (CES) events, and serve as a student perspective
focus-group.
What are the application requirements for DCS?
To be a member of DCS, a student’s primary major must fall within a Potter College
department. Academically, students must maintain a 3.0 GPA. Active participation is
required, meaning that attendance at biweekly meetings and participation in volunteer-based
college events are expected. Applicants meeting these criteria are subsequently screened
by the organization’s professional advisors and current membership and invited to
participate in the interview process. Additionally, selected applicants are required
to attend mandatory training the week before classes start in the fall.
Please complete the below application to apply for membership in the PCAL Dean’s Council of Students. Membership begins in May and training will take place during the week of Master Plan. Students who are approved as members in the Dean’s Council of Students will remain members until graduation or resignation, contingent on playing an active role in the organization and completing membership requirements each semester. Students must have completed one semester at WKU before applying.
