Giving Tuesday
- Monday, November 15th, 2021
Dear Colleagues,
Today is National Philanthropy Day, an occasion to recognize the importance of voluntary support to non-profit organizations. We recently celebrated several significant philanthropic milestones and achievements, the most significant of which was our work to surpass our initial goal of $50 million raised for the WKU Opportunity Fund in less than four years. This remarkable success led to an even more ambitious goal of raising $100 million for the WKU Opportunity Fund, and thanks to generous private support, we are well on our way to achieving that total - already surpassing $56 million with 158 new endowed scholarship funds. Additionally, in July, the College Heights Foundation, which began in 1923 with an initial $100 gift from a faculty member, celebrated its 98th anniversary and marked the occasion by exceeding $100 million in its endowment.
The private gifts we receive play a critical role in expanding access to the WKU Experience and providing our Hilltoppers with learning opportunities that would otherwise fall outside their reach. Our tremendous donor support clearly demonstrates the WKU Community’s confidence in and support of our institutional mission.
As we look forward to Giving Tuesday on November 30, we each have the opportunity to provide current and future students with lifechanging experiences on our Hill through philanthropy. Look for more information soon about how you can participate. Your commitment and support will transform the lives of Hilltoppers for generations to come.
The Thanksgiving season reminds me how grateful I am for our faculty and staff and the terrific work being done across our institution to support our students. As a thank you, all faculty and staff are invited to receive four complimentary tickets to our football game against FAU this Saturday at 11am. Bring your WKU Faculty/Staff ID to pick up your tickets in the WKU Ticket Office in Diddle Arena between 8am-4:30pm during the week or at the Gate 3 and 4 Box Office on Saturday at Houchens Industries - L.T. Smith Stadium. Additional tickets can be purchased for just $5.
Happy Thanksgiving, and Go Tops!
Best,
Timothy C. Caboni
