Dr. Laura G. McGee, Professor Emerita of German, was named a Fulbright Specialist in the areas of higher education administration and world language learning.
As an approved candidate on the Fulbright Specialist Roster, she is eligible to be matched with a host institution abroad during her roster tenure, which runs from February 2023 to February 2026.
The Fulbright Specialist Program allows faculty and professionals from the United States to engage in two-to-six week, project-based exchanges at host institutions across the globe.
Founded in 2001, the program sends 400 U.S. academics abroad each year to complete projects in 160 participating countries. This program was established by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
“Higher education is experiencing massive change for so many reasons. This is happening both in the U.S. and abroad,” says Dr. McGee. “Through an exchange of ideas, we can help each other find the most innovative ways to meet new challenges while continuing to provide a top-quality education to students. I look forward to being matched with an institution abroad that needs what I have to offer.”
This is McGee’s second recognition from Fulbright as she was named a Fulbright Scholar in 2002-2003 to conduct research in Germany early into her career at WKU.
Faculty interested in teaching and conducting research abroad through Fulbright’s international exchange of scholars should contact PCAL’s faculty liaison, Dr. Tony Harkins, at anthony.harkins@wku.edu.
