The Importance of Giving Back
- Tuesday, November 14th, 2023
Dear Colleagues,
Tomorrow, we celebrate National Philanthropy Day, and on November 28 WKU participates in Giving Tuesday. These days remind us of the profound effect that generosity can have on our students, while allowing us to reflect on the importance of giving back.
Philanthropy, whether through the gift of time, resources or expertise, remains a driving force behind the life-changing experiences that take place on our campus. It fuels scholarships, supports innovative research, enhances our facilities and provides countless opportunities for our students. We continue to celebrate the extraordinary contributions made by alumni, friends and supporters who believe in our mission to transform lives.
To all those who have contributed to WKU in any way, no matter how big or small, thank you. Your generosity makes a tangible difference in the lives of our students, faculty and staff. You help us promote an environment where dreams are nurtured, knowledge is fostered and excellence is achieved. To date, our Opportunity Fund has grown to $92.9 million and has enabled us to create 223 new endowed scholarships. The WKU Community makes this remarkable growth possible, ensuring that future generations thrive and make a difference in our world.
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, we must not forget how fortunate we are to enjoy a vibrant and diverse community that learns and grows together and where gratitude and kindness flourish. I appreciate all those who cultivate an attitude of thankfulness on our campus – strengthening our individual well-being and our sense of belonging within the Hilltopper Family.
Thank you for your enduring support and dedication to our students, our institution and our mission. Together, we will continue to build a bright future for WKU and all those it serves.
Go Tops!
Best,
Timothy C. Caboni
