WKU MPA student participates in NASPAA Student Simulation Competition
- Tuesday, March 17th, 2015
NASPAA (the accrediting body for our MPA program) hosted its first-ever national student simulation competition at five regional sites across the U.S. on February 28, 2015. Our own Susan Taylor was one of 32 graduate students assigned to 9 teams that competed on the campus of Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis.
Teams were presented with a simulation related to a current health care policy problem facing local, state, and federal legislators. They faced four tasks that involved: 1) identifying policy options to reform healthcare in the fictitious Urbis region; 2) using a simulator to find a package of policy options that met five indicators of success; 3) engaging in role play to determine the potential effects on stakeholders; and 4) presenting their best policy package to their peers and the judges. You can read more about the competition at: http://studentcompetition.naspaa.org/
Susan and her teammates – one from IUPUI and one from The Ohio State University – placed second in the competition. We would like to congratulate Susan on her success!
