BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) announces the election of member Nolan Miles to serve as the 2015-16 National Vice President of Public Relations on PRSSA’s National Committee.
PRSSA National Assembly, conducted March 12 through 15 in Portland, Oregon, involves approximately 140 delegates from PRSSA chapters across the nation to elect national officers. A total of nine students, including Miles, were selected to fulfill the positions on National Committee. Their one-year terms begin June 1, 2015.
“PRSSA is an organization where all majors can relate,” said Miles, a Bardstown native. “Humbled to take on this role, my goal is to help members build relationships with their peers through integrated media strategies. WKU has undoubtedly given me the experience and knowledge necessary to pursue this opportunity.”
A senior public relations honors student, Miles currently serves as SGA’s student body executive vice president, a Spirit Master and a Western iMedia Certificate participant. Miles has studied abroad at Harlaxton College in Grantham, England, and completed an iMedia internship in Turin, Italy.
“Nolan serves as an active leader on our WKU campus and now has the opportunity to contribute this experience nationally as he supports his future career in the public relations industry," said WKU PRSSA Faculty Advisor Vicki S. Bagwell, APR, Fellow PRSA.
As the Vice President of Public Relations, Miles will be responsible for managing relationships and PRSSA activities, both internally and externally, through social media. He will work closely with the National PRSSA Editor-in-Chief on the development of Forum, PRSSA’s newspaper, and Progressions, PRSSA’s blog site. Miles will manage the Monthly Update, explaining the current actions of all National Committee members. Throughout their year of service, National Committee members are required to attend a number of national and regional events, such as National Conference in November.
