Celebrate #MuseumsDay and Become a Friend!

May 18th is International Museums Day—a day to celebrate the museums that make our communities better places to live, work, and play.
In recognition, the Kentucky Museum is encouraging campus and community members to join their Friends group. While the Museum receives financial support from WKU for maintenance and staffing needs, it must seek private support to fund exhibitions, programs, and collections care. With more than 30,000 items in their collections and 10 new exhibits scheduled for the coming year, this need is greater than ever before.
In 1928, Kentuckians helped construct the Kentucky Building—home to the Kentucky Museum and Department of Library Special Collections. Today, the Museum provides engaging, interdisciplinary exhibitions and programs that open doors to discovery, innovation, and creativity. The Friends are key to this mission and, through their annual dues, provide critical funding for collections care, exhibitions, and public programs.
Friends also receive exclusive benefits, including behind-the-scenes stories about the Museum, details on new collections acquisitions, discounts on workshops and camps, and invitations to Friends-only events.
Friends memberships start at $50 per year and are open to all members of the campus and community. Join online here:

About Kentucky Museum
Now in our 80th year, the Kentucky Museum celebrates all aspects of South-Central Kentucky’s art, history, and culture. “Kentuckians need to know Kentucky” was the museum’s earliest conceptual framework, which took shape in the eyes of WKU’s founding president Henry Hardin Cherry. Today, we are a steadfast educational campus partner helping to inspire innovation, elevate community, and transform the lives of our students and the community.
