WKU Music professor participates in European Clarinet Festival

Dr. John Cipolla, WKU Music Professor, participated in the 9th Annual European Clarinet Festival Aug. 5-10 in Camerino, in the Marche region of central Italy.
He served as President of the Jury for the Ciro Scarponi International Clarinet Competition, performed solo and chamber recitals of clarinet works by prominent Italian and French composers and recorded a video to support the victims of the 2016 earthquake in Camerino, Italy. Dr. Cipolla was one of three American professors invited to perform and teach at this festival. This event was sponsored in part by the European Clarinet Association, Academia Italiana del Clarinetto and the city of Camerino (Italy).
Professional musicians, students and professors from numerous European countries, Russia, South America and Asia participated in the event, which included research presentations, lectures, recitals, an international competition and master classes.
Dr. Cipolla, who served as president of the International Clarinet Association, is regularly invited to perform and teach throughout the U.S. and abroad as well as serve on juries for national and international competitions. He will perform in New York City in the orchestra for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular in November and December.
