Side by Side Program

Side by Side - Bowling Green is a program for young artists with disabilities. Students take a series of free classes at the Kentucky Museum which are followed by a one-on-one collaborative session with an area artist. This enables student artists to explore the creative process as a group in small classes as well as receive individual attention from a professional artist mentor. This program highlights the importance of the role of local artists in the life of their community and provides opportunities to build bridges by bringing diverse groups of citizens together to learn through, participate in, and enjoy art. Classes begin February 22 and continue for 5 consecutive Saturdays with collaborations scheduled for March 28.
The exhibition includes works made during the collaborations, a work of each student made during the classes and a work of the artist mentor. These works will hang side by side in the exhibit and will be on display April 11 through June 26 in the Kentucky Museum’s Dorothy Grider Garden Gallery. The museum is open free of charge during regular hours, Tuesday – Saturday from 9am – 4pm. Meet the artists at the opening reception on Saturday, April 11, from 2pm – 4pm. Kentucky Museum’s physical address is 1444 Kentucky Street, Bowling Green, KY.
Side by Side is presented in partnership with Arts for All Kentucky, https://www.artsforallky.org/. Many thanks to the organizations that make the Side by Side program possible in Bowling Green: WHAS Crusade For Children, Kiwanis Bowling Green, Kentucky Colonels, Kentucky Department of Education.
