WKU Mock Trial Teams Wrap Up the Season
- Monday, March 2nd, 2020
All three of WKU’s mock trial teams competed in American Mock Trial Association regional tournaments earlier this month. WKU’s C team traveled to Dayton, OH on February 14th-16th. In what was the first regional tournament for six of the seven members, WKU went 2-6. Josh Zaczek, earned individual recognition as an Outstanding Attorney for his performance on the Bye-Buster team.
The following week WKU’s A and B teams drove up to Louisville for their regional tournament. WKU B also ended with a record of 2-6 picking up a victory over Berry College. They also lost two very competitive matches with teams from Washington & Lee and Xavier University. WKU A went 4-4 and narrowly missed out on a bid to the Opening Round Championship Series. WKU defeated Lee University and also split with teams from Washington & Lee and Xavier. Holden Schroeder earned an Outstanding Attorney Award, while Sydney Jones was selected as an Outstanding Witness for the second consecutive year.
Although the team was disappointed in not returning to the Opening Round Championship Series after securing a bid last year, returning members remain optimistic about their chances next year. “Each year we continue to improve,” said Josh Zaczek. “Hopefully next year that will lead to a bid back to ORCS.”
