The WKU Department of Art & Design will host an artist talk and gallery reception Wednesday (Sept. 8) featuring Visiting Artist and 2013 graduate Ebony Marshman.
Marshman’s presentation will begin at 6 p.m. at Grise Hall’s Guillaume Auditorium. The talk also will be available on Zoom at https://wku.zoom.us/j/98824864855 A Gallery Reception and Commission Unveiling will follow at 7:15 p.m. at University Gallery, Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center second floor. The events are open to the public; masks required.
At the reception for Marshman’s Inner(re)visions exhibit, the Department of Art & Design will unveil a painting commissioned by the Potter College of Arts & Letters’ Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) Initiative.
Marshman sees her painting practice as a constructive communion with self and spirit much akin to journaling. “The title of this exhibition, Inner(re)visions, relates not just to my relationship with my imagination, but what results in me centering my own gaze…while navigating externally constructed realities,” she said.
During her visit to WKU, Marshman will meet with students for a Deliberative Dialogue discussion on Representation in the Arts and will conduct individual student studio visits.
Marshman earned her BFA in Painting from WKU in 2013 and M.Ed. in Montessori Education from Loyola University in 2016 and currently lives and works in Washington, D.C.
Inner(re)visions will be on display through Oct. 8.
