Deals, raffles, and baked goods are just some of the things that students can experience at the English Club’s annual Booksale, open now until October 29.
After a year’s hiatus due to Covid-19, the sale opened its doors for a cold open yesterday, October 25, which proved to be a huge success.
With a vast array of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, plays, CD’s, and DVD’s, there is sure to be something for every student that enters. There’s something for every price range as well.
Known for its extreme discounts, this year is no different, as hardback books are $1 and paperbacks are only 50 cents.
This year also introduces a few new elements to the sale, as students can participate in an auction for several posters, both of film and artistic renderings. The auction will run through Friday, October 29.
Tuesday, October 26 begins with a raffle that students can enter for a chance to win a customized, reusable Starbucks cup. English Club Vice-President Jess Hughes has a talent for designing these cups and the winner of the raffle will be able to request a theme for their own cup.
On Wednesday, October 27 the club plans to introduce baked goods to the sale, following all COVID safety guidelines.
“As the week goes on, the room is going to continue developing with new things to bid on [and] acquire,” English Club President Seth Nevin stated.
Nevin encourages students to come out to the sale not just because of the deals, but because it also allows students to get more acquainted with the WKU English community through the material being sold, “Most of our stock is made through donations of people at Western, be it professors or students or alums. It helps just the English department as we are a part of it and allows the club itself to continue on funding the Goldenrod competition, other writing competitions, open mic nights, and it helps us propel ourselves,” Nevin stated.
The Booksale will be in Cherry Hall room 101, October 26 — 29, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day. Cash payments will be accepted as well as Venmo.
