Physical Therapy Faculty

Dr. Head earned a BA in Biology from Maryville College, a BS in Physical Therapy from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, an MS in Exercise Science from California University of Pennsylvania, and a PhD in Orthopaedic and Sports Science from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. Dr. Head began her clinical career in 1989 and has practiced primarily in the area of outpatient orthopaedics and sports physical therapy. She became a Board Certified Sports Clinical Specialist in 1996, with recertification in 2006 and 2015. She is also a certified athletic trainer and certified strength and conditioning specialist. Prior to her faculty appointment at WKU, she was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Arkansas State University from 2009-2013, and at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center from 2014-2021. Dr. Head is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, including the Orthopaedic and Sports sections. Her research interests include return-to-sport testing, sports-related musculoskeletal injury, and injury prevention.
