Biography

Dr. Vance Pounders earned a B.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from The University of Tennessee at Martin (2014),  an M.S. from Lipscomb University in Molecular Biology with his thesis being on neural tube defects (2016), and a DPT from Tennessee State University (2020). His areas of research include regenerative medicine, neurological rehabilitation, and immunological principles of rehabilitation. He has been published in The Journal of Human Anatomy and Physiology and as an author in Goodman and Fuller’s Pathology: Implications for the Physical Therapist 5th and 6th editions. As a physical therapist he has worked in outpatient, acute, and emergency departments. He assisted in the development of providing physical therapy services within the emergency department and setting up standard operating procedures for the neurological intensive care unit. Dr. Pounders earned a board-certified specialization in neurology (NCS) physical therapy in 2023. Prior to transitioning to WKU he acted as a clinical instructor and has completed both level 1 and level 2 credentialing courses
