Jennifer Hutcherson Spotlight

Jennifer Hutcherson chose WKU for some of the same reasons we hear over and over again from our students. She fell in love with the beauty of the campus the first time she visited on a field trip in high school, and WKU has remained her happy place ever since! Jennifer only applied to WKU for her undergrad and doctoral degrees. She says, “Arriving on campus for class for the first time in August 2021, I smiled so big! I was so happy to be at my home away from home!”

Jennifer is part of the Psychology Doctoral program, and lives in Campbellsville, KY. She works in Hardin County schools, where she is a school psychologist. She can see the benefits of the PsyD program already in her interviewing skills and her ability to recognize potential disorders.

Her dream is to open a psychological evaluation center where it is needed, in a rural area. She hopes to one day be able to train future WKU psychology students at her facility, and bring even more psychologists to this area.

The Hilltopper Spirit, to Jennifer, means togetherness and community. It’s part of being something bigger than yourself. It fills her heart with a sense of happiness and she knows she is where she belongs. We wish all the best to Jennifer and we hope to see that training center come to fruition one day!
