Soumitra Bhuyan, Ph.D., MPH is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Health Systems Management, and Policy, School of Public Health, at the University of Memphis and a Senior Fellow at the Health Research and Educational Trust, American Hospital Association. Dr. Bhuyan has received several awards for his research and leadership roles in health administration. In 2013, Dr. Bhuyan won the "Rising Star" award from the American Public Health Association’s Health Administration Section. The award recognizes the outstanding potential in the field of health administration and public health practice. Dr. Bhuyan has recently received the 2017 Charles E. Gibbs Leadership Prize. The award is given annually to recognize excellence in research on women’s health care or policy. Dr. Bhuyan is serving as an Associate Editor of BMJ Global Health. Dr. Bhuyan received his MPH from Western Kentucky University in 2010, and Ph.D. in health services research from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2014.
