WKU's Master of Public Health (MPH) is a professional practice degree that prepares students for a wide range of health-related professions.  The 42 credit-hour MPH degree, accredited by the Council of Education for Public Health (CEPH), is offered on WKU's campus and in a fully online format.

Beyond the required core courses, MPH students work in partnership with their advisor to select electives and tailor a program that meets their professional and academic goals related to public health.  The MPH program is competency-based and focuses on applied and integrative learning.

The MPH program is competency-based and focuses on applied and integrative learning. MPH students are required to successfully complete a capstone project, the Integrative Learning Experience, along with the Applied Practice Experience, prior to graduation.

MPH Jump

The Master of Public Health Joint Undergraduate-Masters Program (JUMP) offers highly qualified and motivated students the opportunity to complete a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in an accelerated time frame. The JUMP program allows students to count up to 12 graduate hours toward the completion of their undergraduate degree program as well as the graduate degree program.

  • A minimum of 60 credit hours earned and 15 or more credit hours remaining to complete the undergraduate degree
  • A minimum of 24 undergraduate hours earned at WKU
  • A minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.25 for individuals earning their first baccalaureate degree
  • A minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.00 for individuals earning their second baccalaureate degree
  • Students may complete a maximum of 15 graduate hours as undergraduate students. Twelve graduate hours may be counted on both the undergraduate and graduate transcript.
  • Continuous enrollment is required (excluding winter and summer terms and extenuating circumstances.
  • including, but not limited to, military service, parental leave, and medical leave)
  • Undergraduate JUMP students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in graduate courses.
  • JUMP students should apply for admission to the Graduate School for the corresponding master’s Program on or before (a) earning the maximum allowed graduate hours or (b) earning the bachelor’s degree, whichever occurs first. Students who reach the maximum number of graduate hours may continue their bachelor’s degree by taking only undergraduate courses and delaying admission to graduate school.
  • Students remain undergraduates until they meet all of the requirements for the undergraduate degree.  As such, they are eligible for all rights and privileges granted undergraduate status, including financial aid and undergraduate tuition rates.
  • Once admitted to the Graduate School, JUMP students must adhere to the Graduate Academic Standing policy.
  • Once admitted to the Graduate School, students are classified as graduate students and no longer qualify for undergraduate classification for any purpose, including financial aid. As graduate students, they are eligible for all graduate student privileges, including graduate assistantships and graduate student research grants.
