Graduate Certificate in Health Education

The Health Education Certificate imparts the knowledge and skills necessary for health educators, and is aligned with the seven areas of responsibility outlined by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC) for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES). Upon completing this 12 credit-hour certificate, students will be able to:
- Assess individual and community needs for health education
- Plan effective health education strategies, interventions, and programs
- Implement health education strategies, interventions, and programs
- Design evaluation plan for health education interventions and programs
- Administer health education strategies, interventions, and programs
- Serve as a health education resource person
- Communicate and advocate for health and health education

- PH 587 - Health Behavior
- PH 575 - Program Planning in Public Health Practice (PH 587 is prerequisite)
- PH 548 - Community Health Organization
- PH 576 - Education and Communication Techniques in Public Health Education
